About Lex Roman
Here to support indie business
I'm a growth designer turned growth marketer with 12+ years of experience helping companies launch and grow revenue. My background is in growth for tech startups like Gusto and Prosper, but I have been working with indie businesses for the last 3 years.
In February I started an initiative called Journalists Pay Themselves which is a newsletter and research project. I also beginning to support worker-owned newsrooms with increasing and retaining more paying subscribers.
This is very similar to what I achieved with tech companies but what's interesting and different about the journalism space is that the ethical bar is much higher. Our typical growth tricks don't fly with journalists and that's a very fun tension to explore together.
My position here is that journalism is highly valuable to its readers. It should be sustainable in privately held models that do not resemble charities. We see this traction in the creator and online business space and I'm keen to help more journalists tap into pieces of that pie.
Follow my newsletters Journalists Pay Themselves and Low Energy Leads and get in touch about working together
